Our current favourite holiday destination is Fuerteventura, one of the Canary Islands. The two islands on the right of the group are Lanzarote, capitol Arrecife and Fuerteventura, capitol Puerto del Rosario.

So why Fuerteventura . . . We like the sun. It's a desert, so few insects. There is always a cool breeze to counter the blazing heat.
fuertaventura.gif (2588 bytes) 1:  Morro Jable. If you are staying in the southern part of the island, this is your main shopping town. It's quite cheap.
2:  One of the best beaches in the world, Jandia. It's about 2 miles long, marked at each end by sand dunes. Mainly used by German naturist tourists. Hardly any people, no hot dog stands or other beach amenities - perfect.
3:  Aeropuerto. The north of the island is used mainly by English tourists, the south by Germans.
4:  The Dunes. This area is a national park. It's desert and empty except for sand dunes. The white sand means it's perfect for putting the finishing touches to your brown butt.
5:  Corralejo. Frankly, it's a bit common.
6:  El Cotillo This used to be full of dropouts in rusty old VW vans. These days it is rather pleasant - you can still find relatively deserted beaches. The waves are generally a bit rough on this side of the island though.
